A cermet saw blade, also known as cermet tipped circular saw blade, is specifically designed for cutting metal profiles, sheets, or bars on both stationary and portable cutting machines. This particular type of saw blade offers an exceptional cutting service time that surpasses that of regular Tungsten Carbide Tipped (TCT) or High-Speed Steel (HM) saw blades. The secret lies in the corrosion resistance and high hardness of the cermet tips, which enable them to withstand elevated temperatures. With these remarkable qualities, the cermet saw blade can easily provide more than double the cutting service time compared to its counterparts.

What is the Cermet?

image004(001)

Cermet is an exclusive material that lies between cemented carbide and ceramic. It is produced by synthesizing ceramic dust, silicon carbides, and metal oxides resistant to high temperatures like cobalt, chrome, titanium, nickel, aluminium, and tungsten. This unique material combines the hardness of silicon carbide and diamond while being exceptionally resistant to high cutting temperatures and yielding significantly high machining rates. Moreover, Cermet is known for its ability to produce superior surface finishes while maintaining an extended tool life.

These particle tips are crafted with top-notch materials that provide outstanding durability against wear and tear. They are a great option for slicing through medium and low carbon steel, as well as alloy steel.

The saw blade boasts excellent thermal shock and chipping resistance, making it ideal for cutting low to medium hardness steel. Its versatility means it can be used to cut all types of steel with ease. Whether you're taking on a serious construction project or simply need to perform precise cuts, this saw blade is up for the task. Its robust design ensures it can withstand even the toughest of conditions, providing long-lasting durability and reliable performance. So if you're looking for a dependable saw blade that won't let you down, this is the one for you.

These tips are specifically designed to provide excellent resistance against chipping, making them perfect for the task of cutting thin-walled steel pipes or tubes.

Applications of cermet saw blade

Cermet tips are extensively employed in dry cut saw blades and cold saw blades for cutting different metals. This is primarily because of their remarkable resistance to high cutting temperatures and their ability to withstand long periods of cutting service without wear.

With their exceptional heat tolerance and increased hardness, cermet teeth are ideal for grinding tasks as they offer outstanding wear resistance and longevity. Compared to regular grinding discs, they can last up to 25 times longer. These cermet dry cut saw blades, incorporating Triple Chip Grind (TCG) or BW, effortlessly carve through various metals, leaving behind precise and burr-free cuts while minimizing sparks. By facilitating a controlled cutting action, these blades generate larger chip sizes, reducing the amount of dust and airborne contaminants produced. Furthermore, their versatility extends to effortlessly slicing through both metals and stainless steels, making them a convenient all-in-one solution for superior metal cutting performance and unrivaled value.

Ideal For:

Pipes

Lining pipe, gas pipe, ERW pipe, electric cable pipe

Solid Steel

Middle and low carbon steel, rebar

Shape Steel

Angle, channel, flat bar, reinforcing bar, bolt, mold

Light Material

Aluminium sash, curtain rail, race way

Machine:

• portable machines

• cross-cut saws

• panel and sizing saws

• mitre saws

• table and radial arm saws

• battery-driven saws

• suitable also for so-called DRY-CUTTER machines with reduced speeds such as: JEPSON, RIDGID, ELU, RYOBI.

Features:

◆ Triple Chip Cutting action reduces sparks and the possibility of needing “hot” permits.

◆ Optimized blade design reduces wandering and deflection of metal, creating precise cuts that require virtually no re-work.

◆ Advanced laser cut slits dampen noise and vibration for maximum stability, keeping the blade cool for straight, accurate cuts.

◆ Tri-metal shock resistant brazing allows teeth to withstand extreme impact for maximum durability.

◆ Laser Cut Thin Kerf Design provides less resistance and heat build-up for ease of cut, accuracy and long cutting life in cordless or corded saws.

◆ Circular saw blades create a controlled cutting action resulting in larger chip sizes that generates less dust and airborne contaminates versus standard grinding discs.

◆ Use with a dedicated low RPM metal cutting saw.

◆ Use right tooth count to thickness of material

◆ Use correct cutting speed and let the tool do the work.

Max RPM of cermet tipped dry cut saw blades

Diameter 160-200 mm = 3500-3000 min-1/rpm
Diameter 210-250 mm = 2800-1900 min-1/rpm
Diameter 260-305 mm = 1800-1500 min-1/rpm
Diameter 350-400 mm = 1500-1000 min-1/rpm

Cermet dry cut saw blade: feed rate

Maintaining a proper feed rate is importmant. Feeding too slow causes burning of the material. Feeding too fast can be dangerous and produces a poor dull cut. If you experience burning on one side of the cut you should check and adjust the saw's alignment. Consult your saw owner's manual for alignment instructions.

Cutting efficiency

Cermet circular saw blades have maximum cutting productivity and efficiency.

For example:

Machine: Low-speed metal cutting saw

Saw blade: 355*2.4*25.4*66T

Cutting material: S45C, Φ50

Cutting off time: 10 seconds only for one piece !

Cermet tipped cold saw blade

image016

What is a cold saw blade? Cold saw blade is a general term used to cut metal at room temperature. But the cold saw blades we are talking about are those tipped with cermet tips and mainly used on stationary cutting machines with cutting spray. The cutting feed rate is 15-20 times, even more faster than band saws. So the cermet tipped cold saw blade is an upgrade on the traditional band saw.

Characteristics of tooth type

image018 image020

The tooth shape is special designed and there are alternating grooves at the top of the teeth, which slit the swarf smaller. Thanks for the special tooth geometry and top grooves, when use the cermet tipped cold saw blade, the cutting swarf curling has been greatly improved and the cutting force is reduced, which result in smooth cutting surface and super long cutting service time.
